The Associate Director will serve as the lead of the insight work supporting the U.S. (Respiratory/CNS/Migraine] Specialty Pharmaceuticals business.

The position is responsible for building and managing a fit-for- purpose market research plan to help support the key business questions facing each assigned brand team. This plan will include primary and secondary market research, competitive intelligence, and secondary data.

The position will support the development of an accurate forecast leveraging these various sources.

The individual will be the key contact for Brand Marketing leadership, as well as a connection point with other key product supporting roles including Sales, Finance, Forecasting, Market Access, Health Economics, and Global Insight. Role will also serve as a key representative on brand leadership teams.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a strategic partner to brand team leadership through active involvement in strategy development, brand performance, and business planning.
  • Ensure that insight plans, activities, and deliverables are aligned with brand priorities and communicated appropriately.
  • Lead a cross-functional Insight community in support of brand priorities bringing together Forecasting, Data & Reporting,
  • Finance, and Sales Operations. The Insight community provides an integrated view of performance and aligned recommendations for actions to be taken to drive the business.
The Associate Director should be confident in the following:
  • Partner proactively with commercial partners to understand business needs and drivers
  • Building Insight plans and budgets aligned to brand strategies and organizational priorities
  • Drive high-impact performance, within budget projects/activities
  • Manage customer-based insights and analytics with actionable recommendations
  • Bring Innovative approaches to insight creation and business analytics tools and techniques
  • Create and present succinct market, brand, and project overviews for brand leadership
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in strategic insights, market research, business analytics, forecasting or a related field, experience in multiple areas
  • Experience working in pharmaceutical industry
  • MBA or MS
  • Knowledge of industry primary market research tools and techniques, secondary data, competitive intelligence, and forecasting

In this vital role the Director, Media and Campaign Analytics, reports to the Executive Director of Decision Sciences, and is responsible for comprehensive measurement of Amgen’s multimillion dollar marketing portfolio. This visionary leader, in partnership with brand leaders, agency partners, Digital Technology and Innovation (DTI), Global Customer Capabilities (GCC), Commercial Insights (CI), Reporting Center of Excellence (RCOE) and other Commercial leaders, will shape Amgen’s omnichannel measurement strategy to maximize impact and efficiency across channels and businesses. This leader will create a roadmap to define Amgen’s current measurement capabilities across the short, mid, and long-term horizons, standing up new capabilities, attracting talent, driving innovation, and scaling best practices across Therapeutic Areas (TAs).
  • Media, Web and Targeted HCP Performance analytics
  • Scalable and standardized measurement plans across TAs
  • Strategize, plan, and implement various phases of omnichannel analytics with a clear focus of enabling informed promotional planning
  • Portfolio management: portfolio measurement and reporting, strategy, communication, and investment shift recommendations
  • Portfolio innovation: design and build pilots, lift and shift of innovation, scaling best practices
  • Partner with content and brand teams to enable development of the best and most relevant content with analytics
  • Owner of key partnerships: Build one-on-one relationships with DTI, GCC, Brands, CD&A and global leaders to achieve mutual goals with key partners
  • Executive Alignment & Governance: Ongoing communication and alignment of media goals, strategy, performance, and decision making with Content and Media strategy leads
  • Partnership and thought leadership with brand leads and CDA/decisions science
  • Own self-service reporting important metrics and engage with reporting center of excellence for development and change management for their release
  • Harmonize all relevant measurement outputs to ROI/ Marketing Mix outputs
This position can be done remotely in the US, however preferred location is Thousand Oaks, CA area.
