Job Description:

Biotech Key Account Manager - Genomics

Like to Build Things?

A small, high-growth Genomics company that develops unique Companion Diagnostic tests for the Life Science research market is expanding their commercial team. Their unique RNA-based technology offers faster and more accurate results than alternative companion diagnostics, and the tests are used exclusively in the Oncology market. They are adding a Key Account Manager to call on targeted academic research centers with active Oncology programs to assist them in developing unique CDx assays. This is a high-profile assignment in a well-capitalized, publicly traded organization working on the leading edge of genomics research. If you are looking for a scientifically challenging sales assignment in a nimble, responsive organization then this could be the opportunity for you.

The Role:
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, you will manage Biotech and Pharmaceutical accounts in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the U.S., partnering with large and small drug companies that have active oncology development programs. You will call on clinical development teams to support their Biomarker strategies and their development of new companion diagnostic tests across a broad range of cancers and tumor types. The Director will cultivate high-level relationships in targeted accounts and be responsible for negotiating new companion diagnostic partnerships and delivering on the revenue plan for an assigned sales area. You will also monitor and report on competitive activity in the research services, gene expression, sequencing and CDx segments.

This unique technology platform provides researchers with the advantage of more molecular profiling with less samples required than competitive tests. The product line includes a broad oncology Biomarker panel, immuno-oncology assays, and cell-of-origin assays, among others. As part of a new team of five sales professionals the Director will develop new accounts as well as maintain existing ones and will manage a complex sales process from initial contact to signature. Strong analytical and negotiation skills are required. You will also inform sales forecasts and develop routine reports using a CRM application (salesforce.com). The Business Development team will work closely with counterparts in Marketing, Medical Affairs and Field Services to ensure consistent strategies and tactics. The rapidly expanding organization means there are significant opportunities for career development and advancement.

Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience selling companion diagnostic or gene expression technology to BioPharmaceutical companies, including some experience in the oncology market (pharmaceutical services, laboratory services, or clinical research organizations)
• A working understanding of genomics, sequencing, and gene expression
• A Bachelor’s degree in the Life Sciences is required, an advanced degree is preferred
• Clear understanding of the drug development process, including how oncology assays are utilized in clinical trials

This position will be based in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the U.S. (NYC-NJ-Philadelphia-DC). Overnight travel is estimated at 20%.

This is an entrepreneurial opportunity with a dynamic company that prides itself on the unique, differentiated qualities of its product offerings.
