This role is responsible for developing analytic solutions that are used for critical business decisions in areas such as sales force targeting, product launch analysis, segmentation, resource allocation, and ROI of promotional investments. The Commercial Sales Analytics Manager will consult with Sales, Marketing, and Sales Operations leadership to understand the business strategy and critical needs and then determine the appropriate analytic solutions to enable better and more efficient customer focus and improved ROI on commercial strategies and tactics. Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills, along with innovative thinking are critical for success in this role.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop a sound understanding of the assigned brands with respect to products, markets and their dynamics, evolution, opportunities and challenges
  • Fully leverage sub-national data, market, competitor and product information to produce objective analysis of market drivers, the competitive environment and trends in order to provide an appropriate future context for today’s investment and strategy
  • Provide guidance to Sales/Marketing leadership to ensure efficient and effective use of resources through advanced analytics with sub-national data. Increase understanding of effectiveness/ROI of all promotional efforts including sales force
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Planning team to conduct and manage all Sales Force Targeting and Call Planning development using internal and external resources
  • Partner with Market Research to ensure that research findings are used effectively to address knowledge gaps for the respective portfolio of brands
  • Identify appropriate 3rd party data sources, where necessary, in order to improve the quality of specific ad hoc analyses
  • Contribute to the transfer and sharing of knowledge across the Sales Operations team


Education Required: Bachelor degree in a quantitative sciences field (Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Econometrics, Management Science or other related area)
Education Preferred: Advanced degree in a quantitative sciences field (Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Econometrics, Management Science or other related area)

Experience Required: 5 years related analytical experience within the pharmaceutical industry
Experience Preferred: 10 years related analytical experience within the pharmaceutical industry

Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications needed:
  • Proficient in SAS programming language, SQL, and MS Office applications (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with data visualization software (Tableau)

Functional Knowledge:
  • Experience with IMS data such as Xponent, Xponent Plantrak, and DDD/MD
  • Pharmaceutical or Consulting Industry experience required

Job-specific Competencies
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend statistical methods appropriate for a business problem
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Highly effective at presenting complex, technical information, concepts, and analysis in a compelling and persuasive manner to non-technical audiences
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm and commitment
  • Commercial acumen in order to be able to confidently support, challenge and influence colleagues at headquarter and local level
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/assignments to demanding deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to effectively build relationships across teams with a track record of collaborative partnerships to develop a solution
