Job Title:         Associate Director Market Research and Forecasting                    
Reports to:      Executive Director, Sales Operations and Commercial Analytics

Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Market Research and Forecasting is responsible for the global market research and forecasting efforts in supporting strategic and tactical decision making with insightful analysis to maximize the potential of Retrophin’s pipeline and in-line commercial product opportunities. This person will work cross-functionally to advise, consult, ensure quality analysis and insights are  communicated throughout the organization. To accomplish this, they will be responsible for determining the proper methodology and appropriate tools/techniques needed to answer the key business questions. This role will be instrumental in helping the organization to establish  realistic product performance expectations and goals, using their accurate forecasting capabilities.  This role will provide regular performance insights/updates on how the organization is tracking toward achieving defined  goals.  The position assumes a high level of competences and expertise in Pharma market research, forecasting and analysis to develop insights to further shape Retrophin’s commercial strategy.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for leading the  global primary and secondary market research  for pipeline and in-line brand teams by leveraging the appropriate vendors using the best methodologies and techniques in market research area while remaining accountable for the design, execution, synthesis and read out of all market research projects.
  • Lead  Global Forecasting  by developing multi-year monthly patient, unit, and revenue forecasts of  in-line commercial and launch products by leveraging historical product performance trends, the latest primary/secondary market research insights, and soliciting team inputs to design and build accurate, actionable, and evidenced based forecasting models. 
  • Act as a key forecasting contributor in the Corporate Long-Range-Planning (LRP) process for  pipeline and development products. 
  • Act as an extended member of the brand marketing, sales and core teams by participating in status and brand strategy meetings to provide comprehensive brand/market insights and current performance trends.
  • Responsible for staying updated on brand objectives, strategies, tactics, opportunities and challenges in the marketplace.
  • Provide monthly, quarterly and YTD Performance to Goal Tracking reports/PowerPoint presentations to senior leadership, brand teams and investor relations group by working with the Sales Operations group to develop and maintain necessary reports and dashboards  for tracking performance-to goal for each product.
  • Provide latest demand and revenue estimates and projections for month-end, quarter-end and year-end performance to senior leadership, brand teams, finance and inventor Relations groups
  • Develop, monitor, and manage budgets for all forecasting and market research projects.
  • Ensure all marketing research and forecasting activities are conducted in accordance with financial and ethical compliance guidelines.
  • BA or BS degree required.   Advanced degree, MBA or MA preferred.   Degree concentration in marketing research, business, marketing, social sciences or other related fields.  Equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered. 
  • 8 or more years of combined relevant work experience in forecasting, marketing sciences, market research or strategic brand consulting in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry.
  • Global/international market research and forecasting experience is highly desired. 
  • Proven ability to manage market research function with extensive knowledge and expertise in the latest global market research methodologies and techniques for HCPs, Patients/Caregivers and Payers including Market Landscape Assessments, Patient Journeys  Lifecycle Management, Disease Awareness, Brand Tracking (ATU), Segmentation, Positioning, Messaging Evaluation, Concept Testing, Pricing/Reimbursement and Forecasting. 
  • Proven experience in various forecasting methodologies that leverages historical product demand, primary and secondary research insights along with team inputs to design and build accurate forecasting models using MS Excel and/or other forecasting applications.
  • Proficient in the use and interpretation of secondary pharmaceutical data including National Audits (SMART), physician claims-level and prescription data sets (from IQVIA and/or Symphony Health).  Experience working with Specialty Pharmacy and/or HUB data is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated abilities to think creatively and strategically to solve and answer key business questions/problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a professional demeanor, with the ability to interact with all levels of management and colleagues within other departments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to present market research findings and forecasts summaries at the executive level with the capability  to dive into details.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Windows and Office applications, modelling techniques, analytical tools and applications including accessing commercial relational databases.
  • Ability to travel 10% to 20% domestic and internationally.
